We studied China a few years ago when it was part of the standards of learning curriculum for whichever grade Princess Sparkley was in at the time in Virginia. Buddy became obsessed. He loved it all. We started joking that maybe by the time he was missionary-aged China would be open to missionaries. Then we decided we were moving to China. The kids were excited and nervous. As we drove across the country (Ohio to California) to leave our car at my parents’ house, Buddy’s nervousness grew and grew. The other kids were fine, Buddy didn’t want to go. It was a relief when we arrived in Beijing and even though it is greatly different than life in the United States, the kids (especially Buddy) could see that this is doable and he’s fine.
