Yonghegong Tibetan Buddhist Lama Temple

Church here on fast Sundays (first Sunday of the month) is only two hours rather than three and since we are all the way across town, we thought we should take advantage and see some of Beijing’s sights.  This was on the way to church.

Pictures weren’t allowed inside the buildings, but we did step inside and see various statues of Buddha including the one described below on this Guinness Book of Records sign.  We figured that it was tall enough that if we looked out our 5th floor apartment window, we’d be looking into its eyes.

Everyone was throwing coins at this statue so we joined in.
